Field Day

Today was Field Day at Will's school. The emphasis for Kindergarten was on good sportsmanship and having a good time, not on winning. The kids all came home with blue ribbons and smiles on their faces and no idea who won.

Our team was Puppy Power, which is a cute play on words because Will's teacher is Mrs. Power.
The first event was the hurdles. Our hurdles were set up pretty high and the kiddos did a great job leaping (or trying to leap) over them. Next up was the obstacle course. Then Will had a break between events. He hung out with some of his buddies. They all had puppy hats. So cute! One of our homework assignments last week was to make a field day sign so they could cheer on their classmates. The kids poured over the event roster to see who was up next. Gatorade break. Popsicles were perfect. It was 82* today! Will got some tips for the button-shirt contest from Mrs. Power. He's off!
Thank goodness they didn't actually make the Kindergartners button any shirts. They just had to put a shirt on and take it off.And then run back at top speed. Field Day ended with tug-of-war. We didn't stand a chance against the huge kids in the other class! At the very end, the kids ran through their Puppy Power banner. Field Day was a blast and I'm glad I was there to cheer on my big boy and his classmates. Go Puppy Power!!
