The End of Soccer Season

It seems like soccer season just started and now it's over already! Henry's last game was a week ago. Surprisingly, after not really liking soccer all season, he played really hard and really well for three quarters of his last game!
One of my favorite little soccer players!
Will's last game was Saturday morning. Will has improved so much this season and really enjoys the game. Way to go, Avengers!
As team mom for the Avengers this season, I was in charge of putting together the end-of-the-season party. We decided weeks ago to throw a pizza party for the team at our house. At the last minute, Gene was called out of town on a business trip, but he worked really hard to make a quintuple batch of his famous pizza dough and homemade sauce. And all his hard work was worth it too, as the pizzas met with rave reviews (of course!).

And because I knew I could not handle making homemade pizzas for an entire soccer team and their families, I called in the big guns. From rolling pizza dough to helping the kids decorate individual pizzas to cleaning up the entire kitchen after the party, Gene and Nancy worked SO hard. I could not have done it without them and am so thankful for all their help.
All the kids made their own individual pizzas. A few stuck with cheese and pepperoni but some got pretty adventurous with the veggie toppings.

Henry loaded up on olives, of course.

Will smiled like this all night long. In the end, we (or rather, Gene and Nancy) made 12 little pizzas and 6 large pizzas, and they were almost all gone by the night's end!
We ended the party with a sweet note.
After eating their fill of cake, the boys sat down to get their trophies.
Go Avengers! As a gift for our amazing coach, the boys all signed the team picture.
We managed to get one last group shot. Even though our team was randomly selected, we couldn't have asked for a better group of players or a nicer set of parents. We are so lucky to have been part of this group and look forward to playing with these boys again in the future. Soccer season may be over for now, but my season as a soccer mom is just beginning.
And I wouldn't have it any other way.
