Flowers and Puppies

My boys have never been big on drawing or coloring... until this fall! Now the world is their canvas and they like to draw and color often.

Henry usually likes to draw shapes, but he did these flowers all by himself.
Will likes to draw me flowers too. Do you like the way he added labels to this picture?
And now for puppies on the magnadoodle. Weezie was not impressed with Will's Puppy Power sign for field day. She would have sat on it if Henry hadn't picked it up.I'm pretty sure we don't have a Picasso in residence, but at least Will and Henry are having fun drawing!

Bayou Wildlife Park

After being stuck inside all day Saturday because of the big rainstorms that swept through Houston, we needed to get out of the house with our stir-crazy boys on Sunday. We chose to go down to Alvin to Bayou Wildlife Park.
But first, we had to stop for lunch. I was in the mood for barbeque and there was a Spring Creek Barbeque place right on the freeway. The barbeque was yummy and they brought us complimentary ice cream! Once we got to Bayou Wildlife Park, we hopped on a tram. The boys was so excited to ride around the park, but we had to bundle up. It was COLD!

The animals came right up to the tram to eat out of our buckets. We saw so many animals: an antelope (oryx, maybe?),emus, ostriches (they are messy eaters!),zebras,
camels, and an ankole bull (I think). Our tour guide warned us to watch out for his horns and 5 seconds later he was whacking them into the side of the tram! You know we had to stick our heads through these cut-outs! After our tram ride, we found the petting zoo. Stare down. The goat won.We ended our visit with a couple of pony rides for the boys. It was a chilly day but it was fun to get up close and personal with a bunch of exotic animals!

Family Friday

We spent all day Friday with Nana, Pop, Uncle Mike, Aunt Jess, Mary and baby Michael. We haven't seen baby Michael since July and now he is 8 months old! What a cutie. He didn't like for me to hold him but he sure did like smiling at me!
On the other hand, he loved his Uncle Gene!Sweet baby.
After lunch, we went for a walk. And played a lot of soccer on the front lawn. Henry was the coach. A very sweaty coach with definite opinions and a don't-mess-with-me- stare. Nana and Pop were the best cheerleaders. After soccer, the little ones napped and my big boys watched a movie. Then it was time for Mary to open an early birthday gift from us. The kids played til dinner.Pop and Will had a blast together after dinner. And Nana held Michael and gave him sweet kisses. We were having so much fun that no one wanted to leave!

Gobble Till Ya Wobble

We spent Thanksgiving in Kingwood with Gramma and Grampa. We arrived early enough to play before the meal. Will looked at part of Richard Scarry's Please and Thank You Book (so appropriate for Thanksgiving day!). We argued about the correct pronunciation of turkey. Henry insists that it is "churkey."
We read the paper.
We had a very traditional, very delicious Thanksgiving meal midday. Some of us ate turkey. Henry doesn't actually like turkey or churkey, so he just ate the sides. We played at the park for a long time after lunch. We climbed. We balanced. We found a real live cicada (not just the shell). We wrote our names in the dirt.
I took lots and lots of pictures. We did indeed gobble till we wobbled. And we gave thanks for our good health, our fantastic friends and our wonderful families.
