Maine 2013: Day 8

Our first day in Castine was a fairly relaxing day. Gene and the boys spent some time exploring the playground while I grabbed a bunch of veggies at the farmers market on the town square.

Then we decided to go explore the two forts in town. First up was Fort George. It was a beautiful sunny day!

On the way to Fort Madison, we stopped by the Maine Maritime Academy to see the bench Pop had dedicated to his brother, Ed.

This year, the boys weren't so interested in exploring Fort Madison and just wanted to get down to the beach to throw rocks!

It was a foggy morning but we watched the beginnings of the Castine Classic Yacht Race.

After lunch and some downtime at the house, we headed out to Wadsworth Cove to let the boys splash in the water. It was the perfect day to play at the beach!

The boys found the dam and set to work reinforcing it.

We found lots of snails, mussel shells, crabs and barnacles.

Will is inspecting his dam as high tide comes in.

What a beautiful day to relax on the beach!
