The Letter T

T is for trains and trees! The boys have a beautiful holly tree outside their bedroom windows and we spend so much time watching birds and bees in that tree. This week Henry had fun checking on the figs on Gramma and Grampa's fig tree. They're getting bigger and we can't wait til they're ripe enough to eat!
We also watched a Sid the Science Kid episode called "Save the Stump." Sid explored animal habitats in an old tree stump in his backyard, so when we went on our walks on the trails in Kingwood, we searched for old tree stumps too and talked all about the animals that make their homes there. Grampa and Henry found a lot of ants on this stump! We found more stumps and lots and lots of spiders! Two of our favorite tree books are The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein and My Wonderful Christmas Tree by Dahlov Ipcar. My dad picked up trash along the trails (more T words!).

At home Henry made his uppercase T into an apple tree and the lowercase t into train tracks.
He even drove one of his Thomas trains along the tracks!

And then we built real tracks for the boys to play with. We also read Terrific Trains by Tony Mitton and Trains by Anne Rockwell.

We had a terrific T week!
