Happy Birthday, Uncle Mike!

Uncle Mike's birthday is four days before Christmas. Every year, we get together at Nana and Pop's house for his very favorite meal, spaghetti alla carbonara with ice cream cake for dessert. It is not the least bit healthy and we don't even pretend it is.

Here are pictures from Uncle Mikey's big day:

Nana and the bacon.

Baby David is too little to eat carbonara this year!

Love this picture of Jess and little David.

Nana snuck over to pour herself a glass of wine!

Mary made a card for her daddy.

Little Michael is slightly obsessed with my Gene.

Finally -- the carbonara!

Before dessert, my boys taught the younger cousins how to sing "Jingle Bells, Batman Smells" and they all regaled us with loud lyrics and some dancing.

Waiting for cake.

Ice cream cake.

Presents. Nana and Pop got Mike a shirt and Gene and I got him Shakespeare's Star Wars, which apparently is quite hilarious and a perfect gift for a Star Wars fan who is also versed in Shakespeare.

And here's one final picture of our carolers. They made it up to the top of the stairs and were singing their hearts out.

Happy birthday, Uncle Mike!
