Easter Weekend, Part II

We woke up early on Easter Sunday and made it to 7:30 a.m. Mass to beat the crowds. It's our new secret for Easter-morning success! The boys were ready for breakfast at Skeeter's after church but I made them pause for half a minute so I could snap their picture in their Easter finery.

After breakfast, the boys discovered their Easter baskets,
which were filled with books, activity books, CDs, and some chocolate.

And then it was off to Nana and Pop's. The Easter Bunny found the boys there too and left Easter eggs scattered all around the backyard!
Checking out his haul.
One egg had a special note inside. Pop had card games for the boys.
And I'm pretty sure this was a first -- PEEPS!
Of course they loved them.
Some of the eggs even had these magically expanding sponge-y dinosaurs.
So fun.
Then Nana brought out the Portuguese Sweet Bread. It wouldn't be Easter without it.
We tried so hard to get a good shot of the boys but they were so goofy!
They really just wanted to break into the sweet bread.

YUM!!
Checking out the American flag on top...Gene's nana always put an American flag on top so Nancy does too.
Then, while Nancy and I worked on dinner, we put the boys to work on Easter dessert. Leite creme, or burnt sugar pudding, required a hot flat-iron!
Lots o' steam.
And burnt sugar!
Getting ready for round two.

The final product
The best part of any holiday is spending time with family.

I love these guys!I hope your Easter weekend was full of family, sweet treats and happy memories.
