Lately: Notes, Science, Friends, Soccer, and Frisbee

Last week was full of playdates with friends, special time with grandparents, science experiments, and lots of outdoor sports.

When my mom and I came home from our last class on Rene Magritte on Tuesday night, I found this note on Henry's floor with a dollar bill. My dad had been babysitting and told me that Henry really enjoyed the chocolate the Easter bunny had left him. Henry is such a sweet, thoughtful little boy and wrote this note without any adult encouragement. The Easter bunny left him a note in return (and didn't take his dollar bill!).

Henry didn't have homework last week due to the Ocean Program, but he did come home with this science bag on Tuesday.

Each week, one child presents a science experiment to the class. Henry's been waiting all year for his turn!

After looking at science experiments in books and online, Henry chose to show static electricity using a balloon, cut up paper and an aluminum can. Static!

If you look closely, you can see a big bandage over Henry's right eye. He ran into some playground equipment at recess on Wednesday and we had to visit urgent care. Fortunately no stitches were necessary!

Static electricity lab report.

Henry had a playdate with a sweet friend after school on Friday and on Saturday, we invited on of Will's best buddies to see James and the Giant Peach with us at Main Street Theater.

Sunday marked the end of spring soccer. Despite the heat, Henry played a great game and scored two goals for his team!

The Hot Wheels.

Soccer ended with a fun outdoor party, complete with trophies and cupcakes.

Pop even came along to cheer on Henry!

Our weekend ended with more outside fun. Gene returned from a week-long trip just in time to grill burgers and play Frisbee and enjoy a beautiful evening in the backyard.

This child is slightly obsessed with the Frisbee lately. Love his expressions!

May means we're in wind-down mode and counting the days til school's out (18 school days, if you're wondering!) and looking ahead to a full and fun summer!
