The Boy Scout Camp-o-ree

Will just returned from his first Boy Scout campout! He and Gene attended a camp-o-ree out at Tellepsen Scout Ranch outside Navasota. The camp-o-ree is a weekend campout for Boy Scout troops in our district, with a focus on competitions. It was a great event for our new Boy Scouts!

Getting reading to leave on Friday night

Setting up his tent in the dark --the Scouts need to do most things without adult help, so Will and two buddies helped each other set up their tents.

Gene took our big family tent and had a pretty cozy set-up for himself!

Dish duty after breakfast

And then it was on to the activities:

Tomahawk throwing

Rifle range

Hit the target!

Making root beer

Archery

Canoeing

Despite the cold and rain, Will had a good first experience camping with Boy Scouts and is looking forward to future outings with his new troop.
