Thanksgiving and Getting Ready for Christmas

Thanksgiving was over a week ago and I am just now sitting down to find the time to write about it. We had a wonderful break from school and enjoyed spending time with family over the holiday.

Gene and I hosted my folks for Thanksgiving this year. We purchased a heritage turkey from our favorite poultry farmer, brined it and cooked it on the grill. It was delicious!

Gene played tech support for Gramma and Grampa before the big meal.

And I snapped a photo of Gramma and Grampa with the Houston grandkids.

Thanksgiving dinner had all the fixings:  turkey and cornbread stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn pudding, cranberry sauce, green bean casserole and sweet potato pie for dessert.

We had a wonderful time with Gramma and Grampa and are so thankful for our family, friends, good health and wonderful life!

We spent the day after Thanksgiving with Nana and Pop. The weather was warm but the forecast rain held off til the next day, so the cousins played hard outside. The big four play so well together!

We left Nana and Pop's house with full bellies after a wonderful meal and decided to head to the Kroger lot to get our Christmas tree! It was late, but with rain in the forecast, we figured it was best to do it then.

It rained all day Saturday, so we cozied up inside with Christmas music and eggnog and decorated the tree.

Frosty the Elf is back again this year. Weezie curled up under the tree, but wasn't too sure about Frosty's presence.

We found our first chestnuts of the season

and enjoyed them in front of a roaring fire.

I'll leave off with a sneak peak from our Christmas cards (which have unfortunately been lost in the mail, so batch number two is on its way to us now).

I hope your holiday season is full of your favorite people and traditions!
