Lately: School

The school year keeps us on our toes! The kids have homework and projects and activities, Gene is busy with work and teaching a couple of nights a week, and I have found myself volunteering more than ever before. It gets a bit crazy and hectic at times, but we manage to get almost everything done.

Last week, the fourth and fifth graders were treated to an author visit by Geoff Rodkey, who was promoting his newest books in the Tapper Twins series. Rodkey was hilarious and we are so glad we purchased both books. Will read them in less than two days!

On Friday night, we visited the Houston Museum of Natural Science for another of their members' events. After making crafts, we toured the new Out of the Amazon: Life on the River exhibit.

Last weekend was jam-packed. The boys' school held its annual Boo Bash carnival on Saturday. With extremely heavy rain in the forecast, the PTO decided to move up the carnival to try to fit it in in the morning before the downpours hit. We didn't snap any pictures, but Gene and the boys explored the carnival for about an hour while Henry's teacher and I spun cotton candy all morning long!

On Sunday, we attended a baptism for a dear friend's baby, celebrated the October birthdays with Nana and Pop and visited with another good friend who was in town from Seattle. In between outings, the boys built a maze in the upstairs hallway.

The three amigos

The boys both had Hands On Art this week. I am lucky to volunteer again with the art program and help teach lessons to the kiddos. Henry's class learned all about Marc Chagall

and Will's class painted self portraits in the style of Roy Lichtenstein.

We are looking forward to Halloween festivities and some much-needed downtime this weekend!
