A Texas Adventure: Central Texas (Part One)

The boys and I had a week off from school for Thanksgiving break again this year, so we decided to book a mini Texas adventure for the first half of the week. Henry still enjoys the Polar Express and Will was excited to revisit Fossil Rim Wildlife Center in Glen Rose. This year, we added Fort Worth to our trip plans.

We left Houston on Saturday morning and drove straight to Fossil Rim, stopping only at Buc-ee's and gas stations for fuel (for the people and the car). We arrived just in time to drive through the wildlife park. Will doesn't have a lot of vacation requests, but he did ask to go through the park twice and to spend the night there again, so that's exactly what we did.

The park is lovely and it's actually really beautiful to spend the night in the cabins there. These are some of the evening views.

Sandhill cranes

For dinner, we went back to Hammond's Barbeque, which we had discovered last year and is still delicious.

The next morning, after a hearty breakfast, we were out for our second drive through the wildlife park.

This is no African safari, but if you can't leave Texas, it's a grand adventure.  The kids love it so much that I'm sure we'll be back!
