W is Will's favorite letter, of course, and last week we learned all about water, wagons, and watermelon! It has been really hot here (105 degrees again yesterday), so cooling off in the water and eating watermelons are high on our list of things to do.
Last week, we had a water playdate with our friends Sophie and Henry. They had to show off the new pirate ship pool that Henry got for his birthday. It was awesome and perfect for my pirate-loving crew! The boys defended their ship enthusiastically!
Later, Kate sprayed a water "rainbow" for the kids to run under. We also watched an episode of Sid the Science Kid called "Where Did the Water Go?" and learned all about conserving water, which is very appropriate since we are in an extreme drought.
The boys made W crafts too: a watermelon W and a wagon w. We also read Red Wagon by Renata Liwska, A Red Wagon Year by Kathi Appelt, and Watermelon Day, also by Kathi Appelt. And of course we've been eating watermelons like they grow on vines. Perfect summer fruit! We had a wonderful W week!
