Visiting Mrs. V

We have an elderly friend, Mrs. V,  in the neighborhood whom we met through a service project at the school last year. Even though the service project was a one-time deal (delivering holiday goodies), we have kept in touch with Mrs. V and continue to visit her and bring her baked goods and the company of rowdy little boys. Fortunately, she loves the boys and all their rowdiness because she says her house is too quiet most of the time and her little boy is all grown up!

Henry just adores Mrs. V and cuddles up next to her, giving her lots and lots of hugs. He tells her he loves her and is just so incredibly sweet.

Will played "Jingle Bells" on Mrs. V's piano. I had no idea he had it memorized but it was absolutely perfect!

Even though the service project was all about bringing cheer to older people in our neighborhood, the boys and I (and Gene) have benefited immensely from our relationship with Mrs. V. Despite hardships, she is truly upbeat and happy and an absolute delight to be around, and it does my heart good to visit her.
