Lately: Adventures, Soccer, and Art

Our weekend was full! We started off Friday night at a members' event at the science museum. This was the fourth one we've been to and they never disappoint! We toured the new Lascaux cave painting exhibit, ate cassoulet, and had a sneak peak of the new chemistry hall. The boys even got ancient fossilized shark teeth from our favorite museum expert!

Will is incredibly excited about the new chemistry hall and was so sad that it's not complete yet. He brought his favorite chemistry book (which is basically a textbook for middle schoolers) and explored this interactive elements display. We'll be going back very soon to tour the new hall once it finally opens!

Henry had two soccer games this weekend. Gramma and Grampa came along to cheer him on. These pics are from his Saturday morning game.

Go Hot Shots!

After a morning of soccer, we headed down to Brazos Bend State Park to go hiking. We packed a picnic lunch and all loaded into Gramma and Grampa's car for an outdoor adventure.

We saw trees full of vultures, a blue heron streaking across the sky, and at least 7 or 8 alligators.

Such a beautiful place!

Gramma and Grampa hadn't been before, so it was fun to show them one of our favorite state parks.

Henry had a make-up soccer game on Sunday afternoon on an incredibly muddy field.

I had to snap this picture of my muddy boy! He played great!

Yesterday, I got to volunteer with both boys' Hands On Art class. They made paintings in the style of Jasper Johns's Numbers in Color.

I'll leave you with one last picture of my Henry, drinking his first hot cocoa of the season.

Cold weather has finally arrived in Houston...at least for a few days!
