We spent most of yesterday at Nana and Pop's celebrating Uncle Mikey's birthday. The boys started the afternoon off with a rousing game of soccer in the backyard.
Henry wore his superhero cape and gloves
and ran a lot.
He gave himself a red card for hurting Will's ear.
After an hour and a half outside and two snacks, the big kids were starving and ready for some carbonara. ![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfKsuKTyCfzx_TqapMSmgw7Z7WNgTff6A7-NDQFfCkcZaXHXcCuBD7evA_t7pnjlGdCplg9OlDByN3DCHm6ZiR84VFUKxK7q5xBn8fdkgyNP0Ky4h3jlVo8rfH3Gg-WaeiJc4LZWlPLFHO/s400/IMG_1557_mini.JPG)
Getting goofy.

Mike's birthday dinner is the same each year. Spaghetti alla carbonara
followed by an ice cream cake
from Baskin-Robbins.
So excited about the ice cream cake.
Happy birthday, Mikey!
11 candles. Mary blew out half of them for her daddy.
Our presents are as predictable as the dinner: an iTunes gift card from us and a shirt from Gene and Nancy.![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsEnDEWv6O1UtWNOgWNSkDzFzGLVlktpxeDRYk6fHrI9XmboPgOjIvO-vIf7yyfYFYFvaGJPy86DhPvIvyRn2H_QnMLF6npZ0tQsiyPJ_dasLVwi1Cw_sUGXVO8TJSSYfqKM1vtMA-2coQ/s400/IMG_1636_mini.JPG)
Fortunately, Jess mixes things up a bit each year. Hand weights!
We ended the evening with gemadas, which are like a Portuguese eggnog,
but better!
Happy birthday, Mikey! We had a great time celebrating with you!
